BIODIVERSITY MANAGEMENTValeura conducts environmental monitoring at the Jasmine, Manora, and Nong Yao fields every three years, and at the Wassana field every year in accordance with its commitment under the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) filed with Thai regulators. The assessments, which are based on seawater quality, seabed sediment, and heavy metal levels in fish tissues, indicate that all of Valeura%u2019s offshore operations comply with the standards set by Office of the National Environment Board. In addition, the assessment results also suggest that species richness, biodiversity and distribution patterns in the areas proximal to Valeura%u2019s offshore operations have remained consistently stable between 2023 and 2024.In 2024, Valeura launched the %u2018Coral Restoration and Marine Conservation 2024%u2019 project, a pivotal initiative aimed at bolstering marine biodiversity and supporting coastal ecosystems in Thailand. This effort was undertaken in partnership with the Marine Science Research Center of Chulalongkorn University, leveraging their expertise in marine biology and conservation to execute the project on Si Chang Island and Samae Sarn Island, a critical marine habitat in the Gulf of Thailand. With the continuous support of Valeura, the group has developed a new method to enhance coral abundance and restore degraded reefs. This innovative approach involves coral cultivation through sexual reproduction, where eggs and sperm are fertilised, and the resulting larval settlements are transplanted into degraded reef areas. This technique, the first of its kind in Thailand, was initiated through a collaboration between Chulalongkorn University%u2019s Reef Biology Research Group (Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Science), the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG Project), and the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC). The method has shown great promise as it increases genetic diversity within coral populations and improves the Valeura hadNo oil spillsin 2023 and 2024%uf098 Sustainability at Valeura %uf098 Environment %uf098 Social %uf098 Governance %uf098 Appendix026 2024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
